This community is for the discussion of unschooling. The concept of unschooling is about letting go of the ideas of conventional schooling and instead letting the child lead by following their own interests, learning with the child instead of dictating what they 'should' learn by some authority designed to fit them into a work-based culture. This can mean freeing them up for true creativity and understanding often by practical learning such as going to museums, parks and through life experiences, as well as using the internet instead of using only books. It also lets learning happen all the time instead of at one specific time in the day and between bells. Though the child can take breaks when necessary from the more intense stuff, they're also allowed to learn in their own way.
Unschooling is/should not be about the control of children due to religious beliefs, it should not exist purely to force children to conform to one belief system, we are completely against that idea here and if you are for it then this is not the place for you.
Also, unschooling is a very involved process, it is not just using children in order to make your life easier, we are also against that kind of 'unschooling'.
Attitudes, ideologies and arguments against unschooling are not welcome here and will be deleted and if continued you will be banned. It is okay to discuss specifics or where we might be getting it wrong, but rejecting the idea wholesale is not okay.
