But I'm a shitty painter and I pretend that one day I'll be magically not shitty with zero practice so I don't want to ruin all my expensive miniatures so future me can do them right.

I'm working on a pile of shame I inherited from someone else. It's a lot of work. I've been in a game store like once every month to look at models but not once will I buy one until my pile of shame is finished.
