Memmy is offering better stability over Mlem at this point. Both are lacking features but are in their early stages and show great promise. This post is from Memmy

That was my experience as well - Mlem looks and feels very nice to browse with but the second I post, reply, or upvote, the current version crashes. I think it's related to slow responses from the server, because when I go back in a web browser, I can see whatever actions I took. Memmy hasn't crashed on me at all so far. I will continue to test both, as I kind of prefer the "stick with iOS UI language" approach of Mlem but I love the desk mode and hinting at compact browsing that is going on over at Memmy. Exciting times!

memmy dev here. That's why I'm so excited to see multiple groups working on things! I could never appease everyone with one design, and frankly I find I prefer the one in memmy (well of course right?) over the one that mlem uses. But that's me coming from using Apollo for Reddit for years. There were quite a few different UIs for Reddit apps as well.

Like I said to someone else, I think that anyone who knows Swift should go over and help out with the Mlem development. They have a great app as well and we all need all the help we can get!

I’m really liking memmy so far! I know it’s early days and you probably have a huge list of things to add, but if I could make a small request: please give us some type of visual feedback when we sub/unsub. Just a confirmation that it went through.

I’ve been using Memmy almost exclusively now that I’ve tried it. I do love the Apollo-feel; it really was ideal for sites like this and the closer you can get to that, the better! Great work so far!

Help, I'm not able to log into my existing lemmy.world account with memmy. Just downloaded memmy to use with TestFlight, and prompted to start an account or log into an existing account. I've tried logging into my existing account, but it reports error: 'email_not_verified'.

Hmm, and I'm guessing your email is verified correct? That could be an issue with their servers. That's just the response the app is getting back from lemmy.world.

posting from memmy 😎

so far I’m really liking the overall theme/look of the app!

ok I’ve been using it most of the day and I think this will be my go-to lemmy app

reminds me very much of Apollo

do you have a specific community yet here?

I've had significant issues with Mlem, although it's very nice when it does work. Happy to try this one out as well!

Just coming back to say I am really liking Memmy, it seems much further along than Mlem; how do I edit a comment though? 🤔

Just saw this thread! Have not done this yet but will be soon.

I don’t think that function is currently implemented unfortunately

I don’t see a way to search for communities in this one. Call me a dork but I like the animations and UI consistency in Mlem more. I’ll keep testing them both.

Looks really nice, I love that it recognizes the iPad resolution (unlike Mlem). The thing I’m missing:

im using an older phone (iphone se 2016). to add to your list: support for older ioses. id like to try memmy, too, but i cant upgrade yet

Is it just me or is Memmy seemingly not grabbing anything newer than ~a day old from almost all sources?

Filtering by new works for me and shows everything pretty immediately.

Hot is all relatively old, but I think that’s a Lemmy thing in general with how their algorithm is.

Very nice!

Fair warning for beta testers, if you stumble your way into the All communities + New posts combo... be prepared for some NSFW content.

Ahh thanks for letting me know...I think I left it disabled on an account I was using or I just happened to manage to not run into any of it. I'll add a "blur" filter for NSFW content.

Yeah I’ve been surprised with some big ol full screen furry porn as I browse All…

Thanks for sharing, installed now!

I haven't even been able to log in to my instance via Mlem. Memmy is working well so far and I appreciate having a local client for browsing.

Why am I not seeing memmy in the App Store? (Malaysia)

Both Mlem and Memmy are in testing, you need to download TestFlight from the App Store, go through the steps to activate it, and then go to memmy’s GitHub page from your device and click on the download link, which opens in TestFlight and on-boards you into the beta program.

After that you just run it like any other app; except when it crashes it will ask if you want to submit crash data to the devs (please do!). I’m not sure if TestFlight does any other data collection or tracking.

Thank you. I've managed to download and launch memmy, but on trying to log into my existing account, it reports 'Error email_not_verified'. The login asks for username - I've tried keying in my username and when that didn't work, my email. Password is correct, server is lemmy.world.

Love that Memmy has iPad support .
