The Fantasy Review’s list of 7 Classic Science Fiction Books More People Need to Read, including some underrated sci-fi books...

The article is just a list with some brief blurbs.

The Forever War by Joe Haldeman

The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham

The Demolished Man by Alfred Bester

The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin

The City and the Stars by Arthur C. Clarke

Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said by Philip K. Dick

The Rediscovery of Man by Cordwainer Smith

I would have liked to seen some Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle books listed there, but a good list overall, with a couple that I actually haven't read, but look forward to doing so.

Seems like a pretty arbitrary selection. But Cordwainer Smith is definitely worth rediscovering. The book they mentioned is just a collection of short stories, if I remember correctly. I'd go for "Norstrillia" his best known novel.

I find it interesting that they used Forever War as one of them instead of Forever Peace. I personally felt that Forever Peace was more impactful in terms of message, and had more interesting explorations of sci fi concepts like the manufacturing credits, and cerebral connection tech.

Granted, they're both phenomenal books. Just an interesting choice.
