I would be really surprised if you could use this as an axe without immediately deforming the barrel.
It's single fire, it's fine.
It doesn't look fantastically comfortable to fire that thing.
You've heard of the gunblade, now get ready for the gunaxe!
..That doesn't have the same ring to it. (Literally!)
