The king of cringe

1y 9mon ago by lemmy.wtf/u/meldrik in facepalm@lemmy.wtf from lemmy.wtf

What the actual fuck does this loser clown think he’s resisting?!

He's declared war on "the woke mind virus" because his daughter is trans.

Anything to not support my kids.

The way she dragged him was a thing of beauty and it showed how much he's pandering to the right.

He declared this during a conversation. This was a discussion between the richest man in the world and the (allegedly) most popular intellectual alive. "Woke mind virus".

We are not okay.

I feel you're crediting him with wayy too much investment in his children here

He doesn't give a single shit about his children as people. He does very much care that his captive collection of shared genes look and act heteronormatively in public

which is ironic because his ragingly transphobic dummy spit is the only reason I know anything about a single one of his children and it's her.

The impression i'm getting is despite the genetic handicap she's a wonderfully reasonable person.

Dude basically just declared war on his daughter for no other reason than ignorant vitrol. This is the opioid of the dumbest people on the planet.

Because democrats want a wealth tax, higher top tier tax, and higher corporate tax. All for the benefit of people that aren’t billionaires.

Just like all those fictional resistance movements he listed! /s

The woke deep state liberal communist elites, obviously. That totally totally exist.

Elon is resisting the rebels who want to overthrow his Empire.

I hope he'll be resisting arrest.

I am tired of Elon’s lies. I did NOT watch Divergent!

You missed out on a lot of good podcasts taking the piss out of it.

I went to see it with my brother and we laughed through it, it's not good but a bunch of people randomly doing parkour off a train is a good unintentional joke.

You missed out on a lot of good podcasts taking the piss out of it.

Drop some names, let the rest of us in on the fun

Which podcasts? I would like to listen

It's mind blowing that he saw this meme and thought it represented him

These billionaires try to convince us they work hard for their riches but somehow they have time to find and post memes on social media. Doesn't he have several companies to run into the ground? Trump would tweet literally 200 times a day about shit he saw on television and social media when he was supposed to be working hard as president

If I made a million a month, then even without taxes, cost of living or any luxuries, I'd have to work 83 years and change to become a billionaire.

There is no way anyone can work hard enough to justify accruing even one billion in a lifetime, let alone several.

If you made a dollar a day from the time the dinosaurs were killed by the asteroid till today you'd still only have 10% of what he has.

He is in the "First Order" kind of resistance, not the "Rebel Alliance" kind.

When you think you got a grip on the utter stupidity and ignorance… Too dumb to shut the fuck up

Does... Does he think his side is the resistance?

Emo musk again

There was a comment with that picture, about adding bodies to pile... do you have it?

Curse you for making me aware of this. Apparently he wrote it in response to yet another cringe picture of him posing with a Samurai sword.

You are the MVP, thank you very much!

Yeah, i remember that. Something about graveyards being full of his adversaries, or some such tripe. Very edge. Wow.

I read it as he wants everyone to take him down.

So, I'm obligated to be that guy.

A big part of the Hunger Games plot was Katniss wooing rich donors into backing her underdog campaigns, first as a contestant and then as a true revolutionary.

Mon Mothma was a mega-wealthy Corriscant socialite who built an underground financial network capable of financing the rebellion.

And those are just the fictional reflections of real historical revolutionary struggles. Class Traitors are a pivotal part of any anti-capitalist narrative and for good reason. A rebellion marches on its stomach.

Musk is still a coked-up ego-maniacal dipshit. But the idea that you just need a bumper crop of angry poor people to revolutionize a society has an extensive list of empirical refutations.

Musk is not that guy, but yeah, all resistance stories have rich people on the other side secretly financing them and providing access to things.

I don't think Haiti had any secret anti-slavery plantation owners, but otherwise sure.

If you didn't know anything about Haiti that might be a safe bet but I'm sure more than one plantation owned by gens de color was open to seeing all people free.

Lol. There's a difference between joining the winning side so they don't hang you and financing the rebellion.

So you're saying none of the freed people lent monetary support to the revolution?

I'm saying you're an idiot trying to pretend plantation owners funded a slave rebellion out of the goodness of their hearts.

For some reason.

Having trouble following the conversation?

The correct comment (which you disagreed with) was "all resistance stories have rich people on the other side secretly financing them and providing access to things."

Which you disagreed with for some reason.

Sure bro.

Not really related but I kinda thought the nickname Jennifer Lawrence had was kinda hilarious. She said something like she'd be too tired to shower and clean up sometimes during the filming that they eventually joked around calling her Katpiss Neverclean.

I can't remember if she was upset about that or not it was so long ago. I hope it wasn't too mean spirited.

I'm 14 and this is deep

It hurt itself in its confusion!

It's hilarious that Republicans/Conservatives see themselves as the resistance. Like when did helping people and trying to provide better lives for the needy and taxing the rich and corporations become "radical"? I'm thinking they don't actually know what a lot of these words mean. We already know they have no understanding what "woke" means, unless they do and they just don't care, which could also be true.

They will unironically claim George Carlin as their own 😂 When do we start weighting votes on IQ?

I've argued with people that claimed Carlin was "antivax." Their reasoning? He joked about licking doorknobs, so his immune system is up to snuff. That translated to antivax in their pointy ol' heads.

You watched Star Wars and sided with the resistance

Sided with the group against the politician who manufactured threats to rile up their base enough to vote him limitless power in government that he used to make himself forever emperor and turning the democratic Republic into a xenophobic, fascist authoritarian society which draws loose parallels with nazism? So much to the point that when declaring himself the emperor, Padme outright says "So this is how democracy ends..."

You're goddamn right I sided with the resistance in that regard

are american leaders unironically using the fucking galactic empire as a reference

Someone should put this text over that goth picture of him he hates so much.

This one?

One of the richest men in the world calling the Trump campaign a resistance is kind of ironic.

Man-child is the richest man in the world and still has to conjure up conspiracies and shadowy cabals to excuse why he doesn’t have even more.

God I wish filters could read images, sick of seeing this dumb cunts face.

Do you have to swear so much, Dude?

edit: wow, lotta golfers out there...

This is how rich people see themselves tho, and it's important to pay attention to that. They all think their a small cadre of radical hold outs fighting an evil government trying to exercise over regulation. They think they're the rebels from star wars.

What is this resistance he thinks he's a part of?

And what is he resisting?

Paying a fair share of taxes.

Their boogeyman, wokeness.

Sounds like he's saying the January 6th insurrectionists were the good guys.

Had trump actually won, and there was a plot to depose him anyways, then that would be an accurate statement. But there was zero evidence of fraud, only the unsubstantiated claims of a deluded megalomaniac. The vote was State, Court, and Congress certified.

It's always cringy when right wingers compare fictional movies to real life scenarios. Especially when they're the type that doesn't trust THE MEDIA. Like b*tch, this ain't even pretending to be real. Then they pretend to be experts on American history but they can't find any real life events to compare it to. Glen Beck was big on this

Remember when Trump's team compared Trump to Thanos?

Also, don't the robots have a genuine, justified grievances against humanity in The Matrix?

Yes. They wanted the equivalent of human rights. The humans denied it, the robots rebelled, war began.

Robots were a slave race, wanted equal rights, got thrown into the middle east and ended up building a society and phenomenal manufacturing but humanity put in a blockade to prevent trade, the robots attempted to join the UN and got unanimously denied, then we nuked them but it had no significant impact on them, humanity unanimously approved the dark sky project to block out the sun since the robots used solar power but they found alternatives and when we attacked them they quickly made short work of us.

what a fucking dumbass man... it's actually pissing me off. how can you be so bad at everything? like is there nothing in this world that your smooth ass brain can actually process?

He's remarkably good at making money for some reason. Like he can piss 40Bn up a wall and still be the richest man in the world and he could do it again today and still be the world's richest man. Makes me question what in the ever loving fuck I'm doing wrong.

You're likely doing nothing wrong; wealth and merit are just unrelated.

If I had to list core beliefs that separate conservatives from liberals, that right there would be one.

Agreed, although liberals sometimes have a brand of meritocratic belief - it's usually more to do with something like karma rather than faith in "the market" or whatever.

wealth and merit are just unrelated.

If this is what you actually think, it might be the thing you're doing wrong. Fortuna est quae fit cum praeparatio in occasionem incidit.

Well, for one are you psychopath and/or sociopath? If not, that's a problem. Second, were you born wealthy? If not that's HUGE hurdle.

you're trying to make an honest living. also you didn't get millions from your daddy. there's the difference. change these two simple factors and you too can be one of the richest people on earth and take credit and tons of money from the fruits of labor you steal from non-union workers.

it’s actually pissing me off

I think that's the point. If you want to properly disarm the man, fully stop caring about what he says.

it's not about the man, i don't care what he says. i just can't handle someone being this fucking dumb and bad at everything; it insults my sense of humanity. like usually even the worst people are at least good at one thing. maybe like they write the number 7 very nicely with the proper pen. i don't think this idiot can write the number 1 without fucking it up.

Given how successful he is in a business sense, do you think it's actually possible that he's stupid?

yes, business success is demonstrably not causally linked to intelligence or competence. you just need to receive a million dollars or two from your parents and after that you can just fail upwards for life.

it helps if you have no morals or concern for other people but that's usually instilled in you by the kind of parent who gives or leaves you that kind of money. CEOs don't do anything meaningful to society or even the economy. it's the workers who do the job.

buying a company, stealing labor and taking credit for the output does not make you smart or competent. it just means you're rich.

not to mention his "success" is based on hype and speculation almost entirely, and that's hype and speculation by people who are equally stupid and useless.

It was exciting, in the same way that Fight Club was exciting. But it rested heavily on the idea that one guy doing super-villain style terrorism against an Evil Media Guy was all it took to bring about sweeping social change.

The name really says it all. This isn't V for Victory. Its a story about the triumph of nihilism.

It's about American neoliberalism vs neoconservatism instead of the comic's British anarchism vs fascism.

But that's just Alan Moore's take.

Fight Club is about coming to grips with mental illness.

Everyone has their own take on what fight club is about.

Fight club is about entrepreneurship lol

The Paper Street Soap Company™

Even if I did have my own take on Fight Club… I wouldn’t talk about it.

This guy pays attention when rules are being stated! You are eligible for promotion.

I thought it's about the self dynamics of support groups.

This Guy Fawkes.

What? You mean the terrorist who was arrested for trying to blow up a house of parliament? What's problematic about that?

He was a papist (i.e. a Catholic theocrat) who was fighting against the Protestant theocracy in England. He wanted to replace a Protestant theocracy with a Catholic theocracy.

That's about all I know. I'm not an expert or anything.

It's almost as if we don't live in a fictional universe, Elon, yet you still try hard to be the villain.

What a weird, clueless little dweeb

The tool doesn’t have the self-awareness that billionaires are petty, wealth- and power-hoarding tyrants needing to be resisted against, and he’s one of them.

Jeezus Christ. Can't he move to Mars already?

Not until he's set himself up with an internet connection there first so he can continue to annoy us on a 12 minute delay

King of actively stoking a civil war

Someone should tell him what happens during real revolutions. Let’s take the French Revolution for example…

The funny thing is that the resistance in The Matrix was pro-trans as is The Matrix (a trans allegory according to the writers)

A literal princess was part of the resistance.... I'm just saying those ships didn't come from nowhere...

Was actually a big part of the backdrop of the plot

From the planet of WOKEDERANN, sure.

Something something Ewokes

The lack of introspection is astounding.

Probably comes down to "B b but gubment bad."

Our most successful sociopaths, aka market Capitalists, literally own the means of state violence through the governments they bribe and own.

They are the evil empire, oh the irony.

Could've been Batman.

Instead he's just a bad man.

Don't worry, muskrat. We are siding with the resistance.

Sweet, Justin Hammer wants his own resistance. Resistance from normal human behaviour, I suppose.

Our favorite resistance guy

The fact that this should be abortion has a pic of himself in what looks to be an Ironman suit as his pfp should tell you all you need to know what he thinks of himself.

I’m always thinking it is the AntMan suit…

Huh, I'd never taken the time to look to realize it was potentially either.

It's not an Ironman suit. I'm not sure if that would have made it better. He's wearing armor, but like from those old gladiator type movies.

He fails to see exactly THAT in the Israel-Palestine conflict.

The fuck is "Divergent"?

YA novel with a movie adaptation. Never read it but from what I've gathered it's basically the Hunger Games with the sorting hat from Harry Potter putting teens into social factions rather than houses.

The first movie was good I think but it got a bit shoddy at the end unfortunately

It's the Mekhi Phifer movie.

Oh I thought it was a film about somebody who'd never changed the colour of their hair, but that's Dye Virgin

I'm sure zorg there thinks he is the resistance because of all the resistance to his bullshit.

What Elon is too dumb to understand is that he's not the resistance. He's not not the resistance. He's a wobbly Jenga block in the middle of the tower that's one bad move away from dragging everyone down with him.

If you ignore those who oppose you, you'll find yourself outmaneuvered from the shadows. It is done to share awareness. There are still plenty of people who still think he's so smart and will lend anything he says weight. If we stop shaming his idiocy, it allows those people to not just remain the group who think he's brilliant, but those who will back him when he does really horrible things.

I think he's doing too much Ketamine and was in the k-hole again. The richest man in the world thinks he's "the resistance". Against what? Himself? The best satire writes itself I guess. It's clear that he's just trying to let people believe he's on their side. But when it comes to workers rights, naaahh not part anymoree lmaaoo, only enough for edgy posting on "X" (Twitter). Then the poor people can f themselves. Or his family with the mines in africa, he comes from a rebel household. But when a family member is not like what the social expectation was 50 years ago then she will be banished and badmouthed. He's the one fighting against the system, the rich corrupt elite .... oh wait. Idk how you can reach this level of delusion. Maybe he really didn't consider the safer use rules while doing k and overdid it

Fascists' ability to miss the point is Infinite.

May a bear catch and fuck that guy forever.

Batman and Ironman are both multi zillionaires and they are part of the resistance in their stories. Of course, Musk is part of the problem, but it's easy to make the rich guy the hero of the story.

? They fought on the side of law and order not any resistance

Yeah, Iron Man even pointedly sided with the government during the Marvel Civil War.

I'm sorry, have you actually read or watched anything about them? They are not part of "the resistance", they actively promoted the system. Batman doesn't fight the government except when it crosses into criminal activity(ex. Amanda Waller). Iron Man(note that his name is two words), also sides with the government to maintain a stable society based on agreed upon laws.

This just reminds me of a quote something like "the stories we tell says a lot about our values. The marvel movies are about superheroes who show up to save the world, then go back to their day jobs"

Ironman is at the top of society, and he sometimes uses his enormous influence to change it. Batman works from the outside in parallel to the police

Both of them primarily support the status quo. They aren't the rebellion, they're the guardians of the system. They appear when they are needed and do what they need to do before sliding back into their daily life

How can Democrats be "the resistance" and in control of the most powerful nation on Earth? Seems to be a contradiction.
