Chrome's new Digital ID is a power grab

Chrome devs rolled out a new digital ID feature. This corrupt power grab is an attempt to legitimatize Google being the overseer of all identification through their browser and mobile platform:

I question the legitimacy of Google to keep us safe, when their Worksheets are being rampantly abused by hackers: https://simplifiedprivacy.com/google-sheets/hacked.html

You can just reply, what’s the point in tagging them?

That's just how it works on mastodon

It’s obnoxious, especially when it’s a three word post. Also, that exact same user has replies to people on Mastadon instances themselves where they didn’t tag when replying, so idk about that just being how it is. Seems like some arbitrary bullshit that could just stop.

For sure the integration between lemmy and mastodon could be more seamless than it currently is.
