Reddit plans to lock some content behind a paywall this year, CEO says

From one of the posts on reddit it says that the creator of a subreddit will be allowed to make a paywall on the subreddit i assume with some cut going to reddit.

apparently in an attempt to get a cut from reddit users having a patreon.

This comment does a good job of explaining federation without it being scary:

a decentralized net of social media platforms which shares content among each other.

Definitely saving that for the future.

Reddit: "okay y'all have been freeloading for way too long, now you're going to have to pay for all the content you provide us"
