XKCD 2810: How to coil a cable

2y 10mon ago by lemmy.ca/u/troyunrau in geophysics@lemmy.ca from lemmy.ca

If anyone has any geophysical cable horror stories, fire away!

The ideal mix for maximum competitive cable-coiling energy is one A/V tech, one rock climber, one sailor, and one topologist.

Now try it with a seismic cable that is 20kg and 100m long ;)

We always used a method called "horse collaring" -- but I can't find a video description because everything is about horses ;)

If you have a different way and it works, you are golden

Over worked, under paid. That’s how I was taught to wrap cables…

Spools and reels are cheating, right? ;)
