TLDR : Inuits have several words to describe snow. This was previously considered hoax but now it has been understood to be true. In other languages, often there are several words that describe the same stuff. This is because that particular stuff has a lot of cultural importance. This is called lexical elaboration Example : Oceanic and Indian languages have a lot of words that describe 'smell' because the climate accentuates smells. Native American languages often have a lot of words for 'dance' because of its importance in their culture.

TTLDR : People create a lot of words to describe the stuff they like.

Using this metric, the English language must have crazy relationships to the words 'set' and 'run'.
