Container ship almost hits house in Norway. Inhabitant was sleeping and only woke up when the neighbour came over to check if he was ok

More than just mildly interesting. Imagine going to your living room and seeing this.

When you accidentally order your entire wishlist

or got a very good deal on TEMU?

Doesn’t even need to use those binoculars.

Only a straightnocular

alright world, I got a good sleep, had my cuppa and I'm ready to take on whatever you throw at me

opens news / window

.......

Today their news window is their living room window

Gets eardrums ruptured by fog horn

'Get out of the way, I'm trying to see that ship that crashed!'

You can't park there mate.

I don't see a "no parking" sign

GIF from the film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas wherein Johnny Depp as Raoul Duke says "Is this not a reasonable place to park?"

G-Day Tarkin mate you can't park yer ship there mate

Helberg only discovered the unexpected visitor when a panicked neighbour who had rung his doorbell repeatedly to no avail gave up and called him on the phone.

“The doorbell rang at a time of day when I don’t like to open,” Helberg told television channel TV2.

Relatable

Helberg says he did not wake up when the ship hit land a few meters away from the house.

But we woke up to the neighbor loudly ringing the doorbell. He said: Haven't you seen the ship?

It was quite absurd. When I looked out the window, there was a huge ship's bow there, says Helberg.

Lol I love this guy

This seems like a Douglas Adams skit

Watching this interview it really does:

Interview with Johan Helberg by TV2 in Norway with English subtitles by Sky News

Helberg, the hero of Trondheim. It's a warmish spring morning; how many of those do they get a year there? 20? Helberg is not gonna waste that.

Saw this interview with him on Imgur just now; he’s so nonchalant:

Lucky for the company, they don't appear to have hit any trees

Is Norway tree law brutal?

I was absolutely flummoxed until I scrolled down more. (Posts are usually in large mode)

I wonder what the salvage rights are in these cases

Could have landed anywhere else on that empty shoreline but almost hit that tiny house. Shit sucks sometimes.

I'd say it's the opposite of sucky that the house was missed

Reminds me of /r/fuckyouinparticular on the other side, that must not be named

But Helberg is ok!

huh, the news is reporting on a lot of out of control boats recently, it seems.

Well, once one makes big headlines, and clicks, the media realizes it's been a neglected source of revenue.

Oi da

Fo da

Werebthey aiming for that home? It looks like the only one around

Population density is about on the level of Finland, I live in the south of Finland, and houses on the coast like that with several hundred meters of no-one else around aren't that rare when you go even 5-10km fron the city centre.

So I assume they aren't in Trondheim either.

Well that was my point yeah, no one else around yet that ship is right on top of his house

Willem Dafoe, call your office for another sequel. Didn't they drop an anchor on his character at the conclusion?

Ziggy, your ship came in!
