What is the genus and specific epithet?

Pretty sure it's this but I'm doing a very large yard rewilding project right now and I can't remember specifically what was in all of my seed mixes.

It's Dracopis amplexicaulis (sometimes classified as Rudbeckia amplexicaulis), with "amplexicaulis" literally meaning "stem-clasping" refering to how the leaves wrap around the stem!

Very cool, I'll have to look into this genus more. This species reminds me a lot of ratibida columnifera, a favorite of mine.

Does it really clasp?

Refers to the leaves wrapping around the stems some. That's my understanding.
