Video: Cybertrucks Show Up to Mardi Gras Parade… And Are Pelted with Trash and Booed

Like the lady says, "I love New Orleans."

But seriously... The Big Easy is about as friendly a crowd as you can expect. They don't boo anybody. If you're pissing off New Orleans, you need a long hard look in the mirror and probably to take some corrective action.

It's sort of amazing to see the visceral, negative reaction that just crowds of randos have to seeing one specific model of ugly truck.

March 4, 2025

A day we can all remember fondly for this display of comeraderie

Well, yeah. Mardi Gras ain't in May.

i wouldn't know

Why would cybertruck owners think they belonged in a parade?

You can roll anything in a parade. Thought about entering with my convertible one year.

Yeah, but they must have known Nazi-Made superfx chip ass looking garbage wouldn't be very welcome.

Apparently they didn't!

five cybertrucks

a pile of trash

but i repeat myself

More please.

But that's OK because they are built like tanks right? Bottles can not harm their shield of steel

Well, depends... does the water splash the Cybertruck from below?

If so, kablooey.

Has Tesla’s brand image really collapsed this much that just seeing a Cybertruck turns a friendly crowd that angry? Six months ago, Tesla was still a symbol of innovation.

If you knew nothing about Tesla, sure. Anyone who knew anything about the company knew their autopilot accident reports were fraudulent, their technology was inferior to their competitors because they didn't use Lidar, and their CEO was a charlatan who knew almost nothing about science, engineering, or coding. The fact that Telsa, the Boring Company, and SpaceX didn't collapse in 2021 when the Vegas Hyperloop was revealed to be a poorly designed tunnel is proof that most investors are idiots who can't tell when they're being scammed.

I see one Cybertruck in that video. The title is plural.

This was not the forum I was expecting a fact-check in, but fair enough! I always got sources on tap.

The reveler in the stands who reported live that the Cybertrucks were "lustily booed like they were wrestling heels" reported that they saw 5 Cybertrucks in total: https://www.reddit.com/r/thebulwark/comments/1j2zz5k/comment/mfw9tni/

Here's video of 2 of the others (when it says "pre Mardi Gras," that's because Orpheus is technically a Lundi Gras parade): https://www.usatoday.com/videos/tech/2025/03/04/crowds-boo-tesla-cybertrucks-during-mardi-gras-festivities/81458097007/

i assume there was plenty of boos. is there a reason they weren't set on fire?

meh

Is that an odd relflection or is that cybertruck actually painted orange like the General Lee car from Dukes of Hazard?

It is that EXACT shade.

Separately, the guy from Dukes of Hazard has a Cybertruck, he carts Kid Rock out at concerts in it.

Naturally, it has the General Lee paint job. Because Idiocracy was not a comedy, it was a crystal ball, I guess.
