Martin Österdahl to step down as Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest this summer
11mon 25d ago by piefed.zip/u/Microw in eurovision from www.ebu.chAppointed in 2020, Martin Österdahl has managed the last five years of Eurovision and Junior Eurovision Song Contests.
Martin Green CBE, who was appointed Director of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024, will assume the Executive Supervisor’s duties on an interim basis.
Cool, now kick Israel out until they stop committing genocide
The mainstream media is now quick to point out that the last two shows have had big controversies – but to me, Österdahl's performance and the EBU decisions during his tenure were already questionable before that.
That's amazing news! I'm still so pissed about Europapa that this year's ESC has been the first I haven't seen live since 2020 (I actually still haven't seen it at all, but I probably will eventually).
It will be mainly interesting what the EBU actually changes based on their secret evaluation. And the EBU councils have been newly stocked with voted-in members this summer as well, so it's new people in charge all around. Which has potential.
