Yo, please add some alt text to this. See rule 0.5 in the sidebar
I agree with the point of the comic, but he for sure wouldn't be drinking a Modelo. He'd be drinking some shitty domestic beer. Lol
Mexican beer has become a little more popular in the US over the last decade, but yes, traditionally it would be Budweiser or some American corporation piss beer.
If corona and sol are anything to go by, Mexi beers are about as trash as US beers.
Signed, ex european.
If you mean the corona and sol you get in the states, the yes, because it's shipped a long distance in clear bottles and goes skunky.
The closest you can get to the good stuff state side would something like Indio or Corona Familiar. Much superior to the clear bottle crap.

Signed, ex european.
No, I don't mean the ones in the states.
Oof, those are likely even worse off. I don't know if they have European breweries though. Even if they do it's likely Corona Extra only, easily their worst beer.
Can confirm familiar is quite decent.
Budweiser is american? Is it different from Budweiser Budvar which is Czech?
Yes, completely separate and have been in a trademark dispute for a long time.
Ok, so, correction:
Budweiser <- originally produced in České Budějovice, Czech Republic
They really started running out of ideas on this one didn't they? Started strong hat made in China beer from Mexico Etc.. then we come to Lemonade first created in Egypt and corn from the Maya. Just ran out of ideas huh?
It caught me off guard too, I don't think it's well executed. The point they're trying to make is that all these things Americans enjoy were introduced to America through immigrants/foreigners.
Yeah man I understood the point. It's not exactly original or esoteric.
they will say this while living in a former Mexican territory like Texas
the closest argument against immigration is about what American immigrants did to Mejico.
This kind of comic comes from people who claim Americans don't have any "culture" of their own, when they're steeped in it every day and fail to see it right in front of them.
I am no expert, and am completely unqualified to make assertions, but: I feel like Americans possess many of the strengths of a Russia, or France, or England, but without the real pride, real self esteem, or real duty. Which is both a strength and a weakness at times. We have the dare devil bravery of Russia, the obstinacy of France, and the adaptability of England, but no collective unity. No common spirit. It makes us fearsome and unpredictable, but completely rudderless and feckless. We're a nation of unrealized potential. We make great television, but only because we wouldn't read a book if we had a gun to our head.
Or maybe this kind of comic comes from people who've directly witnessed a lot of wildly ignorant bigoted takes from their fellow countrymen. I agree with this comic in every way, and I'd be the first to argue that the US has a diverse, fascinating collection of culture, highly regional and frankly beautiful in its all-too-human strengths and weaknesses.
But we have a ton of clowns like the character here, who don't understand more than a sliver of their own history or culture.
Apple pie IIRC is taken from the Dutch.
A few places have versions. Apples happen all over europe and basically every agricultural society has something like pie.
The dutch version, which is imo better, has only recently started becoming the norm here in ca-though that may be regional; id expect the dutch versions to be more common in pa and nyc, the terf islander perversion to be more common in coastal new-terf-island
The land one is weird because native Americans aren't the immigrants; the white people whole stole said land are.
Getting a proper grilled German bratwurst sausage in the US is very difficult. Hot Dogs are definitely not German.
The USA has the biggest marijuana culture and economy. American strains and breeds are exported worldwide. US weed culture is influential across the world.
American BBQ is also distinct culturally.
American style coleslaw and apple pie is not the same as in Europe either.
The baseball hat is a very American piece of clothing, as are the t-shirts and jeans they’re wearing.
