1Password and DuckDuckGo are neither privacy friendly nor FOSS.

It's probably recommend bitwarden over 1password. Or better yet, keepassXC

I too would like to keep ass

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure not all of these suggestions are actually FOSS. DuckDuckGo is closed source, for one. It would be better to put something like SearXNG instead.

FairEmail is the Gold Standard right now imho. The learning curve can be quite steep though.

It looks like if you purchase the Tuta low end premium plan (~3.50 USD / month) you can use a custom domain and that could help you out with switching around in the future, but yeah it doesn't help you today if you're on an gmail.com address.

Gmail (as a service) is definitely one of those that is really hard to replace once you've bought in.

Notesnook is great, but it isn't FOSS

Standard notes is. It's also easily self hosted.

I agree with the post, but wrong community I think, what does it have to do with piracy?

I've seen a few of these lately, and it's always a nice reminder that I'm doing things right!

But can we please give immich more love!?

I'm sure ente photos is great, but more love for the self hosted options like immich, nextcloud, Standard Notes, Jellyfin etc.

Posteo is a great email-provider. For 1€ a month you get a secure and friendly email with aliases, calendars, notes and contacts. I use DavX from Neo Store (great F-Droid frontend) to sync them to my devices. Also, I'm a huge Signal fan-person.

+1 Posteo. Been using them since 2024

Another +1 for posteo!

Although, I actually use both posteo and tuta in combination with anonaddy

I'd say this list is not about moving towards FLOSS, but more about breaking up with Google services. Some replacements are betters, some worse, but definitely in each column there is at least one non-floss application 🤔
