GNU Taler: beyond digital money

I really want Taler to take off, get to its stable release, and start being supported by... well, everybody, really. I've got the app on my phone and I've toyed with the demo applications and such.
And it's nice that there's a project out there that isn't complete snakeoil (you know what I'm talking about; the sidebar talks a lot about it, lol) that's actually doing things to improve the convenience, control, and privacy that folks have with regard to making payments.
Honestly, I'm pretty anti-capitalist and I think we won't find a system that "works" until we've abolished money. There have been several attempts to make "Open Source but people get paid" like the the "Post-Open Source" thing that Bruce Parens was(/is?) involved in and FUTO's "Source First" thing. And my thought when I hear about that sort of thing is a very sarcastic "oh yeah, that's just what FOSS needs: more capitalism."
But given that we're in a capitalist world and the options for simply "opting out" of participating in capitalism are... extremely limited to say the least (and given that I hold a 9-5 employed for a big employer), it's a great thing to have a project like Taler that (hopefully, assuming it gets adoption) at least will prevent companies from doing quite as much enshittification as they can now, what with Visa and Mastercard selling people's data and dictating what people can and can't sell. And I very much applaud the Taler project for that.
And... I haven't even watched the video linked in the OP yet. Lol. But it's on my list of things to watch soon.
