Two letters, and five numbers were used (such as PEnnsylvania 6-5000) from about 1930 into the 1960s. This is a guide to using a rotary phone from that era.

The good old days when you actually dialled a phone with a dial.

Zero is last because it creates ten pulses. If it created zero, it wouldn't be that useful 🙂.

My number growing up was a PR5 (PRimrose 5) or 775. Using the letters for the first two numbers was pretty much standard in those days.

I’m so old that I remember.

Our number was BElmont 3-6316

or 233-6316

Um, I'm fairly certain you mean Translyvania 6 5 ew ew ew.

Never got around to watching that one. Is it still worth it today?
