Let's try to get as many people signed up on lemmy as we can!
More importantly, Reddit is compromised. Get off that platform immediately. You might as well be on facebook at this point, with the non-stop nazi garbage.
We knew it was going to happen.
I still try to be active since that's where a lot of people are, but yea it's a shit show
PieFed has event posts which makes it more suitable for activism.
Also grouped communities. Might be useful to link to outsiders as it shows more traffic.
Might be more effective if linking an instance where content from not accounts are not hidden by default, as mirror@50501.chat is pretty active.
Hi! I came over from the subreddit. I've never even heard of Lemmy until today. Can we get more details about what happened? This is really concerning...
I don't know the details, but broad strokes: reddit is owned by billionaire oligarchs just like every other major social media platform. They will not allow discussion the goes against the status quo (Gaza, ice, etc), and have been removing/banning mods from the subreddits in order to control the narrative.
This is nothing new. We now they banned tiktok because of all the Gaza support and videos. We have congress members saying exactly this. They want to manufacture consent across all media.
Appreciate the post! We did get our reddit back, but we are going to start pushing Lemmy more soon. Thanks for getting it started
