The trial was stopped but the judge hadn’t been put off by the dirty protest. The original courtroom was closed for cleaning but the closing arguments continued in another room. Despite his revolting actions Philidor was found not guilty of the crime he was accused of. He didn’t get off that lightly though because he was still facing charges for another serious alleged crime.
