Senate "Moderate" (Center-Right for European Politics) Democrats Caved But The People Will Not

(I was asked to move the post here)
Regardless of this shitty news of Senate Democrats caving we must keep going:
https://www.politico.com/news/2025/11/09/senate-democrats-shutdown-vote-00644146
Also Schumer wanted this to happen! (Thanks TallonMetroid for this source):
https://prospect.org/2025/11/08/why-does-schumer-keep-trying-to-cave-government-shutdown/
🇺🇲 But Don't Panic! Organize.
(Search for that GIF phrase online to understand what I mean if you don't know)
Never forget the Senate Dems caving today. But also dont let it make you any less hopeful or driven to get things done. We still have momentum. We still demolished GOP a couple days ago. We still can switch to real Progressive candidates (Actual Left) instead of Moderates (Center-Right on World Politics stage) that have failed us for decades
So as a fellow American doing and getting others to do together I highly request all of you to do as well!! Collaborate, and get others active across the country!!! There are many of us doing and refusing to back down!! Join up with your cities/towns/states that are nearby you in-person and online
Here are things that can be done (Pick any):
-
Protest!!! Strike!!! (The main goal of a protest is getting people together to make connections so we can get things done together after the protest. Remember every movement is only as strong as people doing and there are many of us that are.)
-
Get other people doing as well (Help them connect them to in-person & online communities because with more of us doing the stronger we collectively are. Organizing, Logistics, & Collaboration is the foundation of any movement. Informing Each Other, Strengthening/Growing Each Other, Learning, Doing Together, etc is the main goal we must all strive for!!)
-
Support Run For Something by sending good people who will actually do the job to be trained as progressive candidates. Also volunteer to help them with their current/future candidates and those in office
Edit: (Remember everyone. Moderate Democrats in USA are Center-Right in World Politics. They might as well be 2 sides of the same coin
If you are a voter who wants real change put in progressives, or indpendents that actually lean left in World politics
Run For Something trains progressive candidates to run and win. Couple days ago they won big for various elections when we had that very good day
They also have on Substack: RFS Feel Good which gives weekly updates about everything they have accomplished in & out of office
Volunteer to help more candidates & current officials to get things done!!)
-
Support Elias Law Group by getting more law people to help them out on cases internationally. Financially support them too since they have been doing overtime for the people
-
Talk to any military/police people so they know they are not alone. So they know that the people care about them and so they don't side with the fascists. If you are directly part of any military branch/police department of those then highly recommend you all have discussions with anyone that is high risk of not being on side of the people with others around.
-
Talk to Mexico/Canada/International Allies part of Government/Regular Citizens from those Other Countries to form Contingency Plans for USA in Case of any Emergencies/Situations to Have in Place. Also so we get any assistance we can get from them: food/medicine/etc. Also to have in place ability to form a Myanmar N.U.G.-like organization as moments notice to manage all USA Military/People/Etc in case things go nuts
-
Get creative: Food, Medicine, Community, Transportation, help people switch to Open Source Software/Apps/Hardware many alternatives on https://alternativeto.net/
-
Show them what FAFO means!!!!!
Hope, Action, Community, & National/International Allies are the most powerful things to have right now. Read this and never lose hope no matter how hard they try to make it seem. Make your own hope in every way and for others! Make yourselves resilient!:

Also we can become like the Nordic countries & Canada that live well but we must do for what we want!:
https://www.visitdenmark.com/denmark-pavillion/press/why-does-denmark-have-such-high-quality-life
https://denmark.dk/people-and-culture/happiness
Strength in Unity!! Power to the People!!! They try but they will not break our resolve!! Together we are making this country what it should be for us all!! Keep each other safe and show them what a real American is capable of!!! They have gone too far for too long and this is beyond party lines at this point!! Finally, show this post to other people so they too can be hopeful & amped up!! Save it, believe it, & let's move!!
If you try to vote them out in the general, a republican wins.
It takes less votes to vote them out in the primary, and as a bonus you're not just voting against them, your voting for who you want.
That needs to be the main message for the next three years.
And we have to start early, and we have to do it often. Because billionaire owned media has a bigger reach and runs 24/7 coast to coast
Durbin and Shaheen have stated they will not seek re-election when their terms expire in 2026. Fetterman, Hassan and Cortez Masto will not be back on the ballot until 2028. The rest – King, Kaine, and Rosen – are not up for re-election until 2030.
That's precisely why these were the ones who voted. No way this wasn't sanctioned by dem leadership.
dem leadership.
Waaaay to vague of a term.
We can't afford to be vauge, or to pretend that the Dem party is a unified monolith.
Current Senate/House leadership are the problem, and were chosen before current DNC leadership. And they were only chosen by other sitting dem politicians because the old DNC leadership would cut off funds to entire state parties if someone from there went against them.
The reason elected progressives are comfortable calling out Schumer today, is they no longer have to fear retribution from the DNC for it.
That's a huge fucking win, and honestly something I didn't think I'd ever see.
Like, if there was one single thing holding the party back, it would be that...
And we fucking fixed it 9 months ago but most people still have no idea.
The ouster of David Hogg and the attempted ratfucking of Mamdani happened under your alleged savior's watch.
Join up with/ Volunteer for Run For Something we are getting things done and what you're saying would definitely be a great thing for everybody in it to hear. Together we got this.
We gotta continue switching whoever we can off of billionaire-owned media "news" outlets, & social media
Would love to see announcements of (more progressive) folks running against these 8. I commit to boosting any I see.
None of the people that voted are up for re-election. That's why they were the ones to vote.
I'd love to say that people aren't naive enough to think these are the only problematic ones...
But here we are.
Just look into the reps you can vote for, evaluate if your House/Senate, and especially state side reps aren't doing enough. If they're not, now's the time to groundwork for 2026 and 2028 elections.
The US Democrats are hard right by developed nation standards. The Republicans would simply be in jail in most places. The so called progressives would still be considered conservative on most issues.
I'm far to the left of US Democrats and no doubt I'd be called a conservative in Europe.
Doubtful, given the broad lurch rightward that we've been seeing in most places
In most of Europe if your were trying to conserve things, that would mean you wanted to preserve Universal Healthcare, Unions, Public Education, Public Transportation, the Social Safety Net and even the Environment.
That would put you to the left of even the local Neoliberals (which themselves are usually to the left of both US parties).
Real conservatives even in Europe have been overtaken on the right by the "we need to change things" Neoliberal wave of the last 4 decades and especially in Europe were the established structures were far more rights-based and pro-people than the US, most of that wave of change has been to destroy all those rights-based pro-people things.
Very true and agree for mainline "moderate" & fake ones who pretend to be progressive dems. Run For Something though has been getting young real progressives in & getting things done
Their track record speaks volumes. Their community impact as well of actually accomplishing things. Read the RFS Feel Gpod on Substack
I just hope everyone here can at least volunteer with people already in office from RFS to see they are actually doing then assist in the effort. Then encouraging others to assist upcoming new candidates for their things too
We can't keep going head first with the same party members/political affilistion who keep failing us
*European standards not "developed nation standards". The democrats are not center right compared to Japanese politics nor South Korean politics and both are developed nations.
That's true. I stand corrected.
Who "enhanced" these photos? And why? It's so fucking annoying.
It was shared online so used it for this post. Have no clue where it is originally from.
Isn't Fetterman basically not a Democrat now anyways?
Correct. J. Fetterman is a turncoat now.
Yeah from what I hear it was basically only AFTER his brain damage that he swung hard to the right.
It wasn't the brain damage. He just stopped lying after the polls closed.
It should have been obvious when the party didn't try to ratfuck him.
I mean... seems like he was wolf in sheep's clothing from day 1. Yeah he conned a lot of people!
That too I read about that as well
He's a democrat through and through. Look at how he caved to fascists like that. He's a natural.
Remember folks, these 8 were CHOSEN.
By themselves?
Yeah that was super surprising. Can't believe that shit you would never expect it from Maine
Also the bill recriminalizes some cannabis products, so that the booze industry and the private prison industry will be satisfied.
It's always fetterman
Fuck remember when he first showed up and seemed like a down to earth progressive dude, but it turned out he was just playing and was a con. We were conned by a con all along.
Someone paid them
Unfortunately someone or multiple people most likely did. That's why we cannot keep the status quo
I think that's more honorable than what happened. Schumer got tired of things being inconvenient for him, and told them to nuke the deal so he wouldn't have to admit to anything in public. They did it for free (well, as much "for free" as anything in Washington).
John fetterman has been a disappointment almost the entire time he's been a senator.
I love how far Americans have come as a society. 50-50 gender representation wow. Oppressing the poor and crushing the middle class no longer has a glass ceiling!
More than that, they voted to make you SUFFER for 40 days, first, on the promise that they wouldn't do what they ultimately did.
Please make a post on that because I have a feeling you will be able to say that better than me in that regard about the 40 days
I don't know why anyone's even slightly surprised. It was obvious all along that they were playing chicken with an opponent who literally does not care if they all crash.
The Hateful 8.
fucking scabs
The US needs recall elections at the federal level.
Yeah we do. But there isnt many people pushing for that
It would probably take a constitutional amendment. The last of those to be proposed that got ratified was in 1971. Proposing it would take supermajorities in both chambers of congress or a supermajority of state legislatures. It would be unexpected for congress members to propose their own recalls, and the state legislatures approach has never been done before. While possible, challenging.
Hey Senator Durbin! That's my TRAITOR
Your traitor, my traitor, & traitor to us ALL!!
None of them are moderates by American standards either. Don't concede them that ground. They are straight up conservatives.
Are you saying that "I will help these guys fuck you against your will with no lube but not directly do it myself" isn't a moderate position?
It's shameful that the people they betrayed can't get rid of them before the next election.
I mean...
As a Chicagoan I want to scream at Dick Durbin until he is hoarse from it.
He's the minority whip btw. He got his orders and he picked seven cohorts to take the fall
Why is this AI generated photos??!?
Because actual photos of these people look too soulless
I didnt know it was ai generated image I just screenshot then used the one I found online
As someone from NH I am ashamed of Jeanne and Maggie.
Odd
Dissapointed in King but reminder he's an independent. He is not a democrat.
Give them the boot.
None of them is up for re-election anyway.
One of the reasons MAGA controls the Republican party now is that as soon as someone went against the Scheisse-Fuhrer they ate a primary challenger.
Not in a year, when people had forgotten. You got primary challengers announcing their intent to run the day some conservative showed a spine.
Dems could at least be bold enough to challenge the spineless.
the people? x for doubt but happy to be proven wrnog
I used to press x for doubt for many years but getting active, seeing others do the same, & getting others to do the same in my area/towns & cities nearby/state/countrywide is inspiring as fuck!!
(Just needs to be covered more online in every way which it is with each person doing & sharing more)
So wanted to add on with a bit of my own rally the people kinda thing. I don't know you or your situation but let's not settle for bullshit from anybody any more. We're living our best damn lives and not whatever chains they want for us
Let's keep moving forward Jhex!
I don't know which part of Europe (maybe Britain?) you're thinking of, but in most countries I lived in around here most of the Democrats are too far into deregulamentation, small government and anti-unions to be in the "center" part of the rightwing by local standards.
This without going into the whole "Neoliberalism is actually a political philosophy of trying to make the power of the state - which is one which in Democracy people control via a vote of equal weight for all people - be below the power of Money - which is not controled by an equal vote at all, but rather by an insanelly unequal system base on how much money each person has (so some people have billions of times more power than others) - in most maters, hence is anti-Democracy" part of it which means the present day US Democrats are actually more authoritarian than democratic, they just hide it with a technocratic discourse which misuses Economics.
Lack of healthcare is gonna turn you into a fetterman
Huh
What do you mean
people here cave every November by picking blue or red
7 whites and a pick me sold out America.
Why are you focusing on their race? Why are you asserting their vote had anything to do with their race?
Look at the picture dude, if this was a police lineup the republicans would be telling you what percentage of the country commits the majority of the crime without actually thinking about what that means.
Well I'm thinking about what this means, and i see 6 white traitors. What the fuck else am I supposed to see?
That’s just making excuses for overt racism.
Yeah but for a good reason! Show me a minority member of the caucus who supports this. If they don't exist, maybe this action is one by a bunch of affluent, out of touch, inbred-ass looking white people. Why are the only cowards we can point to here these 6 white cowards?
Also, why do they look so fucking goofy? Is it cause they have blue Mayflower blood and refuse to mix outside that? Like Jesus these people are starting to look like the Ptolemaic dynasty, who refused to breed in Egyptian blood for 300 years and instead fucked their own cousins until they all looked like monsters.
There’s no good reason to excuse overt racism. There will never be a version of racism that is acceptable.
Oh I dunno, I think sometimes people earn being see a certain way. Who did chattel slavery, who did debtors prison, who did Japanese internment, who did segregation. Like every horrible thing that has happened to people who aren't Mayflower looking has been perpetrated by inbred looking freaks with no melanin to speak of.
Like obviously white people aren't a monolith, like other ethnicities and ancestries. Having money is a huge differentiator, but when you come down to it, even poor people with a certain hue are treated a certain way in the American justice system.
The US doesn't change until you stop being able to point to these cowards who make decisions like this who all look the same, went to the same schools, the same country clubs (that are invite only to keep out the colored people).
You are just trying really hard to justify overt racism.
You will never be part of the solution until you address your racism.
Oh interesting point! Counterpoint, who did the final solution?
Racism was by far a larger motivating factor than skin color so people like yourself were the ones responsible.
Oh interesting, looking at myself in the mirror in pretty sure I'm not in the group that did Juneteenth, I'm actually more likely to be deported to a torture prison than flex my skin color based authority. But kk!
You tell me.
I dont know you to know how racist you are so Im asking why are you focusing on race when that shouldn’t be a factor?
I dont know you tp be able to determine how racist you actually are. I just know that your previous statement was focusing on race for no reason.
Like oh I don't know guy why would anyone assume a bunch of white politicians in a country that was built on the mass enslavement and mass murder of non whites might be influenced by race? Especially when some of them have a history of racism to boot.
I think you meant to respond to the guy above me.
I was agreeing with you...
I know. I just found it weird where the reply was. I'm a dingbat.
FWP my friend. If you ever need an excellent example of a craven coward, just look up "white liberal" in the dictionary.
