United States President Donald Trump declared on Saturday that Venezuelan airspace had been “closed”, without offering any further details, spiking tensions between Washington and Caracas amid months of military build-up in the Caribbean.
Why?
Resources.
Largest gold deposits. Huge oil deposits. Huge rare earth deposits. And large lithium deposits.
All of the things you need if you intend to in house electronic and battery production.
They're seemingly hoping they'll capitulate and regime change to someone who will allow the us to takeover resource mining and such.
Oddly enough this is sorta the plot of Jack Ryan season 2 iirc.
Also the fact that Venezuela is governed by a socialist party. It's another attempt at regime change so they can install Nobel "Peace" Prize winner Maria Corina Machado as their dictator
