Beginner, making my way and learning. It’s not as huge as the photo makes it look. 1st is pine. 2nd one is hardwood and stained darker.

This looks great! I like the contrasting doweling on the pine version

thanks! that means a lot to hear.

No worries amigo! Enjoy the ride, there's so much to learn

Ohhhhhh man… Jr. High School shop class memories unlocked!

Pretty sure mine had a small shelf somewhere, but otherwise identical.

Thanks for sharing.

only took to it recently and it helps calm my middle aged mind from being a sw engineer and first responder lol.

I can’t think of a better way to get into a hobby :-)

I love the little finishing triangles too! I miss living near a Rockler.

Thinking about your project led me back to the memory of the one before… very similar style, but it had a roll of “adding machine” paper that fed through two little strips of thin brass so you could write a note and leave it, or pull it through and tear it off.

think i got those at the depot actually! lesson learned - pine was soft enough it left dimples in the back/bottom on its own weight on those things! :)

cool idea about the notes!

nice!
