Geographe Bay: Teen swims hours to save family stranded off Western Australia

4mon 14d ago by lemmy.world/u/filister in upliftingnews from www.bbc.com

The 13-year-old swam 4km in rough water after his mother and siblings were swept out to sea off the coast of Western Australia.

Come birthday time, she BETTER get him a Nintendo 64, and a tamagachi!

Oh, wait, sorry. I was thinking of what I wanted when I was 13.

What do teenage boys like these days, besides boobs?

besides boobs

They are evergreen for a reason

Fairly certain that they're not supposed to be green.

Disagree, green boobs are awesome.

A man of art and refined taste!

The boy's 47-year-old mother, her other son, 12, and daughter, eight, were located at around 20:30 by a rescue helicopter clinging to a paddleboard about 14km offshore.

FFS BBC, did nobody proof read this?

what should it say?

Something like:

'The boy's 47-year-old mother, her other son, 12, and daughter, eight, were located at around 20:30 by a rescue helicopter. They were found clinging to a paddleboard about 14km offshore.'

The way they've put it, it sounds like the rescue helicopter was clinging to a paddleboard when it found them!

good edit, also if you use numerals for numbers (12) dont change to word numbers (eight) inmediately after! also; i want to see the footage of the rescue copter clinging to the paddle board :(

What a hero! This could be a movie!

A bbc link, let me pop over to europe to read it.

Ranma!
