Once in a lifetime shot of a Fireball meteor

4mon 12d ago by lemmy.world/u/Cattail in interestingasfuck from i.redd.it

If I’ve taken that shot, I would be parading it around in every damn gallery for the rest of my life.

If I'd taken that shot, it would be blurry, or ½ second too late.

Everybody gets a copie for Christmas.

Bit of copper in that one.

INCOMING ORBITAL STRIKE

I copied the code block. Where should I paste it?

Pete Hegseth's group chat.

That is maybe the funniest possible reply to my comment

This is "Serendipitious Green Meteor", taken by Prasenjeet Yadav in October, 2015. The town is Mettupalayam, in southern India. The meteor was captured entirely by accident; he'd set his camera to take 15-second exposures 10 seconds apart over the course of a night, and only afterwards discovered the meteor in one of them. The picture won an honorable mention in National Geographic's 2016 nature photographer of the year contest.

Damn, anyone know if there are variations of resolutions this image so I can wallpaper this bad boy?

This came up through tineye. I'll upload it here but it might get compressed so you can check the link for the Wired article

Death star

Nah, not once in a lifetime. More like once in all lifetimes taken together

Is that Guatemala City?

Looks more like alderaan just before the incident

Reminded me of Your Name.

Does green mean copper?

For fireworks yes

It is burning in the atmosphere

Just googled it. It has nickel and magnesium
