FCC asks stations for "pro-America" programming, like daily Pledge of Allegiance

Brendan Carr wants "patriotic" shows for Trump's yearlong America 250 celebration.
The FCC can go fuck themselves

All I know is there are many plumber positions open nationwide that need to be filled since they don't want to do their jobs. Might as well be effective about it and not lone wolf too
FCC OFF
That's what I call "Alpha Male" vibes!
"If the president can do it and not see any consequences then we should do it. YEEHAW."
Do some actually pro-America stuff to report on first. Or does he think that the tail wags the dog ?
I think we know how an administration that employs Kristi Noem feels about dogs
I do not pledge allegiance to a fascist country. I haven't placed my hand over my heart in 10 years. I would sooner burn the flag than pledge.
I have also instructed my children to no longer pledge either.
I pledge allegiance to no nation, my allegiance lies in humanity and morality
Still sign national anthem?
I know in many ways this is an attempt to brainwash folks into ultranationalism, however I also believe its more so an attempt at a "gotchya" that doesn't work anymore.
I remember when they started forcing us in highschool to do the pledge every day, and anyone who opposed it was being chastised as an anti-American and "ungrateful to the brave soldiers who fought for our 'right' to pledge".
I don't think these stupid assholes are gonna have that same "gotchya" anymore. I think more people than ever agree the ultranationalism in the US is cringe, fascist and based in lies.
I did the pledge of allegiance in elementary school. You just did it. It was unthinkable not to. Then they stopped with that bullshit.
Then I learned they changed the pledge to add the under god part and that was the moment I realized it had all been bullshit propaganda.
This sorry sack of shit makes Ajit Pai look good in retrospect. 🤮
I still cannot believe how stupid they must think everyone else is to have posted that nonsense he posted about net neutrality. Ajit is still an asshole.
At least his stupid coffee mug was relatable. I literally can’t think of another FCC chair.
Tom Wheeler was FCC chair under Obama. He was a VC and telecom industry lobbyist, so obviously he's going full regulatory capture and letting the industry squeeze us dry right? Turns out he changes his mind, rules in favor of Title II, and ushers in Net Neutrality in the US. Crazy stuff.
Ten years later the Roberts Supreme Court comes through and undoes all of it. Because fucking of course they did.
Wheeler's heel turn was epic. Definitely did not see that one coming
Wouldn't that be a face turn? Not a wrestling fan, but I'm pretty sure a heel turn is when a "heroic" character turns villainous.
I remember seeing a sketch some number of years ago about a time travler warning his past self about Betsy DeVos and the past version was shocked that things got bad enough that he knew who the secretary of education was.
Fuckin-A man… I’ve never known who the secretary of HHS was, this is the second dept of Education secretary I’ve know the name of (the first was DeVos).
You don’t normally hear about the competent ones…
Malicious Compliance: reading of the Constitution, including the Amendments
American history lessons on Native American genocide, the Trail of Tears, slavery, Jim Crow, Black Wall Street, segregation
Inspirational American stories of immigrants, civil rights leaders, and queer activists
There's a lot of room here.
Or the Declaration of Independence. There was a time when some organisation tweeted it line for line and MAGA saw it as an attack on Trump.
This ain't an America worthy of a pledge.
How about a daily prayer for Trump to die?
It worked for Kirk..
I think it was a witch that put a hex on Charlie. If we get enough of a collection we can put a MASSIVE hex on Donny…
iirc they hired several witches
As an American, I want to see more anti-American programming. We deserve it.
We're getting closer to Gilead every day
We have untouchable Commanders and our own Serena Joy. We’re already there.
I mean I'm sure they're not untouchable. Also who's our Serena Joy? Melania?
Erika Kirk.
Hahahaha no.
This is how you force secularity on the population. I think they don’t have as much support as they think they have. Most people don’t want their weird paedophilic religion.
Project 2025 was highly unpopular. People just didn't inform themselves before voting. I know people who voted for Trump who started freaking out about Project 2025. And I am here like "it was public, they didn't even try to hide it."
In their mildest defense knowledge existing doesn't mean it's accessiblity is known, if you don't know you should even be looking for a threat how could you possibly react to it? This is honestly the true threat of the right wing media bubble as a whole, it silences outside information with BS culture war, xenophobia, and generally inane slop. This is why I firmly think if you want to break the right ya need to remove their talking heads.
It's actually pretty easy.

Jesus H. Christ when will this fascist nationalist shit end?
When we start removing them.

There's only one pro-american program i'd like to see.
Stay tuned for the seasonal finale of We Got The Guillotine, where someone very famous will shit himself on camera for the last time!

Pro America programming:
Free and fair elections are a cornerstone of our nation. Acting to disenfranchise citizens from voting with plans from our current administration of jackbooted paramilitary thugs at polling places is a threat to America.
Wish granted. FM 105.3 will air the pledge of allegiance 24/7 recited by the most symbolically patriotic person in america—Donald J Trump.
There are no ad breaks, no subscription fees. Just pure, uncut, America.
Are these assholes going to demand "equal time" on all the hate radio networks?
Oh, they mean what happens every morning in american schools?
Jawohl, mein heir!
childish chorus
I pledge allegiance
To the flag
Of the United States of America
And to the Republic
For which it stands
One nation
Under God
Indivisible
With liberty
And justice for all.
So glad I got this forever burned into my brain instead of, say, the periodic table or civics. Very useful in my every day life. /s
And to obey the Law of the Pack.
It would really be funny if the radio stations just ran a 4 minute clip every hour just repeating the last line. "With Liberty and Justice for All."
I wonder how long it would take them to backtrack. "No! Not like that!"
I think it would be patriotic to play ...And Justice For All, by the red-blooded American rock band Metallica, endlessly on repeat
What better way to celebrate the rebellious act of American independence than to play a song which rebels against powerful figures like Brendan Carr
... with liberty and justice for all some.
Under fascism it's for none, but many are too slow to realize this.
You know what, forget the constitution
I can't wait to stand in front of a tv in my living room, volume blasting, and recite this every day at the same hour like an absolute fucking weirdo.
Does this "pro-america" programming involve making truthful statements and quoting the law?
I am not alone in my disgust over an administration that would punish anyone, let alone members of Congress, for simply reminding service members of their legal duties. Last week, a federal judge appointed by President George W. Bush issued an injunction blocking Hegseth from punishing Kelly for his role in the video. Finding that the Arizona senator had shown a substantial likelihood of success on the merits of his legal challenge, Judge Richard Leon wrote, “Defendants have trampled on Senator Kelly’s First Amendment freedoms and threatened the constitutional liberties of millions of military retirees.” Even for a judge who frequently disregards the judicial norm of avoiding exclamation points in his legal opinions, this one was extraordinary. “To say the least,” he wrote, “our retired veterans deserve more respect from their Government, and our Constitution demands they receive it!” Charging them with a crime for their free speech would be even more egregious.
(Emphasis mine)
Whats great about this is you can have whatever picture in picture you want and be doing whatever seems appropriate. Im thinking of selling american flag tissues.
I think it’s a case of oppinion for me being pro America would be to protect the American constitution and founder values of freedoms, report abuses of power, abuses on the constitution. So I glad they are supporting more reporting on this to be pro America. Right?
I don’t watch nor subscribe to anything live, so whatevs. My plex has whatever I put on it.
Same, not plex, but otherwise that's what the entire family uses.
American Theocracy.
As a former broadcaster, I know as well as anyone that the FCC has never had control over programming. But since no one in DC has the balls, I guess that's going to change.
I say let's have some broadcasting about American history worth celebrating:
- The foundation of America and the allies that made it possible
- The immigrants that built America
- How slavery was abolished
- The history of civil rights in America
- How America built an empire after WW2 using soft power
- Etc...
They had that back in the 50s in some places
