The wait is almost over! New trailer for MORTAL KOMBAT II – in cinemas and IMAX May 8. #MortalKombatMovie #FilmedForIMAXFrom New Line Cinema comes the latest...
When was the first one? 1995? TIL there was a movie in 2021 that was so far off my radar I missed it entirely.
Yeah the 2021 movie flew under my radar as well, they did a shit job of promoting it. Its actually a decent movie, much better than the cheesy ones from the 90s.
It came out during COVID which is a lot of the reason people don’t remember it I think.
This is a sequel to a reboot.

Then it was rebooted.

The first movie did not have Nicolas Cage playing Johnny Cage, and now they are making the same mistake again.
Johnny Cage is simply not a main character material. Liu Kang is main character. Kung Lao is main character. Sub Zero has a whole revenge and redemption plot worth two sequels.
Johnny Cage is just some Hollywood hippie telling the same two jokes and behaving in the Outworld like US tourist in Thailand.
That is, unless Johnny Cage is played by Nicolas Cage. Nicolas Cage can redeem this role. He is the only actor that can play an actor acting a role of Earth Champion, thanks to C_a_g_e_M_e_t_h_o_d.
The 2021 movie came out on HBO Max only. It was part of a string of releases that weren't going to make it to theaters because of COVID.
This looks like exactly the dumb fantastic fun I crave.
It's Mortal Kombat II, but by the trailer it sounds like they're reintroducing all the lore. Is this a sequel in name only but really a reboot?
Its been a while for me, but wasn't 2021 mostly around recruiting earthrealm heroes and training? I don't recall actually making it to the tournament. This should be picking up directly after as the movie ended with Cole going to find Johnny Cage.
Yeah, it's a sequel with several of the cast from the 2021 film returning.
Oh my bad. I saw a different comment about a 2021 movie but didn't realize this was a sequel to that one. With all the 20+ years later sequels lately I just assumed it was from the 90s version.
Shao Kahn looks incredible, loving the mask and texture on his arms.
I’m so seeing this in theaters😁
yessss my body is ready (for a fun popcorn flick)
