Choose your pill

3mon 15d ago by lemmy.world/u/RomulusCornflakes in linuxmemes

No TempleOS? The Lord shall smite you for this wicked heresey.

TempleOS doesn't have a pill. It's just bread and wine.

Way ahead

The correct spelling is DBMS. The picture is accurate though.

Base Data System Management

Still technically means the same thing

One of them has to be inserted rectally, but I'm not going to say which one.

Ohh, and another one it's your decision.

They all have to be inserted rectally, but the Linux pill vibrates and comes with free lube.

Windows pill you have to pay extra for lube.

i need more weird ones. haiku, nextstep, inferno, oberon, alto exec, os/2 warp, z/360, vms, maclisp, colorforth...

The Haiku one should be the yellow one.

Zion can only manufacture so many pills.

you can just buy empty capsules and install on them

You could even attach capsules onto capsules and boot the first capsule as a live environment in the second.

i think that may exceed the maximum recommended dosage.

OS/2 Warp!

Don't forget Buddha Linux... Which still pretty much just exists as a concept. Neither real nor not real.

I should make a Schrodinger's Linux.

Every command you enter has a 50% chance of being ignored, and the output of all commands is hidden and come with a 30s delay, so you never know whether the command was actually executed or not.

@OwOarchist
With bash. All things are possible.
alias cat=schrodinger.sh

#!/usr/bin/env bash set -euo pipefail if (( RANDOM % 2 )); then echo "meow" else command cat "$@" fi

KolibriOS and MenuetOS are there, but are so tiny we can't see them at all.

AROS was there, but the kitty mascot refuses every pill

Dont forget RedoxOS, long live the secure rust microkernel

freebsd ftw

I installed plan 9 yesterday

How is it going?

For a second I thought this was about vertical scrollbars

What the fuck is a reactOS?

An open source os built off the windows nt kernel. It doesn't necessarily work the best, not necessarily the most ready, but it's very cool.

built off the windows nt kernel

🤡

Yeah, not a fan of anything microsoft but it's a commendable effort to make an open source operating system based off of nt

You missed my point. There's no Microsoft in there. It's related to Microsoft pretty much the same way Linux is to minix.

??? It's the nt kernel, I was trying to get the point across that it was the same kernel that windows uses. It's also built to have full compatibility with windows software. I mean the project calls itself a free and opensource reimplementation of windows. It's built using an "open source version of the NT operating system." It's very much not just what linux is to minix. Minix uses an entirely different kernel to linux, I mean it's even a micro kernel in comparison to linux's monolithic one. The goal is 1 to 1 compatibility with windows software and drivers, it's very much supposed to be basically an open source windows-like os.

Sorry, I can't help you any further. Have a nice day.

Nothing you'd actually switch to.

I came here to say this, verbatim. I don't really care for an answer though; my morning has been ruined enough already.

Y’all need to take some time away from the internet if a random meme about an open-source operating system you’ve not heard of negatively affects your state of mind.

He probably assumed it's an OS based on react js

Pulses?

Red pill. Tried the green pill but it was just too painfull having to still interact with windows period. Nuked it a few weeks ago. Screw the anti-cheat games lol, i'd rather not play them if that's what it takes to be free.

Linux + everything else in Virt Manager

I'm waiting in the Linux lobby for Haiku to be ready.

Red pill

Red or Black

Why are all these pills shaped like suppositories

Never did manage to get ReactOS working for me

ReactOS can vaguely work, but since it can't really run anything, it's of limited usefulness.

its not Windows + Linux dual boot, its Linux primarily with Windows dual boot as a backup just in case i ever need fl studio or adobe

+1 for this one.

I had a Steam partition for years.

Dunno, but I bet it tastes like pemmican

Red pill please. Only Linux please.

Jokes on you
*turns on debloated Redstar OS with latest bsd kernel *

Green Pill

Was green, then windows overwrote my boot drive. Am now fully red.

Been using Windows + Linux for 4 years atp and only 2 times it happened, but now I'm going redpill tbh.

Wait a minute ... you're trying to redpill me!

Unfortunately I have to green pill because lightburn dropped Linux support

Does this imply freebsd will make you want to kys

No. You die in Linux, you die in the real world.

Bottom left. Tails OS best OS

It really is just good! I haven’t started using it full-time but I keep thinking I should try it at least for a bit.

Green (but not stock windows i run Atlas OS a custom windows iso in a 100gb partition for valorant and literally nothing else).

Where is Redox OS

can't believe nobody's mentioned serenityos in the comments yet

Who dafuq is white pilling here outside of the developers? I've got questions

I was green for awhile but after booting windows for the first time in 4 months to use a scanner it started syncing my files with one drive without my permission (I never set this up). I did a hard shutdown and that was it.

I would rather rip out a molar then boot windows on bare hardware again.

Red !

I have all of these at home! I'll take slackware 7 on a thrift store thinkpad please. I imagine that pill is probably beige.

Can Reactos be run from a thumbdrive?

Red. Currently in the process of trying to set up VMs on my Fedora workstation ( with virtmanager). It's a bit of a struggle getting them to save state right now, but once that's done I'm one step closer to never needing to go back.

Green pill

I would choose linux, if those were the only options, alltho i would choose freebsd over linux.

So just say freebsd lol it's the last pill shown

But freebsd is not NetBSD, they are very similar, but technically not the same.

Edit: first comment was NetBSD

Can "Linux" be another color? Red pillers are incel neo-Nazi douchebags.

Do not let them take any color. Own it.

i mean in the truest and most original sense, the red pill represented waking up from the status quo. in a world owned by Microsoft and Apple, a red pill is what linux is

in its truest form, the red pill in the matrix represented estrogen. it's really funny that nazis chose that as their dog whistle

Pink?

Yes! (I'm a little biased since it's my favorite color.)

Isn't red supposed to be commie symbol?
