One's really heavy, the other is a little lighter.
The only way this joke works, IMO, because it delays the pun for as long possible.
It's not even about delaying the punchline, it's setting it up, otherwise there is no context for "lighter" to make any sense. It also scans better as "little lighter".
One is a lighter, another is heavier.
