‘Smells like swamp’: (St. Helena) is fed up with brown tap water

Reminds me of this scene from Back To The Future 3

It's true, not many places in California have crystal clear drinkable water.

A lot of people moving out to the suburbs from places like San Francisco and the near East Bay serviced by EBMUD don't understand that the water everywhere else around here is undrinkable crap.

And SF and EBMUD get/steal their water from far away, i.e. the Mokelumne and Tuolumne Rivers, because of historical water rights.

"richest country in the world" serves you smelly brown water insisting it's safe to drink 🤮

That buys into the idea that humans can just live anywhere they like, without tradeoffs and costs.

A vital resource like drinking water is not available everywhere, and if you want to live in a place where there isn't any, there are costs of water treatment and reliability.

There were a bunch of articles in the last 2 years about Sonoma County's diminshing water resources.

Some towns having to truck in water from elsewhere, although search is failing to dig up the particular example I was thinking of.
