Tanabe has adapted several works of author H.P Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos series into manga, some of which have been released in English by Dark Horse. They include H.P. Lovecraft’s The Hound and Other Stories, At The Mountains Of Madness, The Shadow Over Innsmouth, The Call of Cthulhu, and The Shadow Out of Time (which was released in English in December 2025).

He also worked on manga adaptations of The Haunter of the Dark, The Outsider, The Cats of Ulthar, and several other Locraft short stories.
