Rescuing some mayapples from a tract of forest set to be cleared

I've always liked these and planted a few in a shady spot years ago. Didn't know at the time they were in anyway poisonous, but had never planned on eating them anyway. I miss having a yard to grow things in.

They really are lovely little things. The spring ephemerals are just great.

Is that a dogwood on the left?

Sure is. You saw the characteristic bark.
