Matriarchal societies have absolutely existed.
Matriarchy is not feminism. Any decent feminist should oppose a matriarchy.

There are pockets of matriarchy in the world but then the patriarchic societies went and trampled over everything.
Matriarchy isn't feminism - feminine is about equality/equity, not just swapping the gender in control
