I dont know if this is my finalized opinions
But im feeling blackpilled on public information sharing. The more i watch the more i see the public sphere has to many bad actors who will take advantage of your goodwill and optimism and use it against you.
Like at this point the net humanity gain doesnt feel worth the net humanity hurt. I dont need to publicly share information i can share it to friends and communities without bad actors and reap majority of the benefits with less negatives.
A blog post about a topic you're interested in does have value. It was easy when you could share it and know the only people who will get that value is other humans reading it. But now it has value to groups ingesting it to try and synthesize human expression and then leverage that against humans. Its gross. Fuck clankers i dont have to play in their field i can go outside and share everything in a world they'll never touch.
Sharing information doesn't need to feel like a net negative, it's just hard to conceive of better situations under capitalism. IMO much of the AI hate on Lemmy is centered on feeling alienated from privatized commons. Efforts like Common Voice are a much better approach than letting billionaires control it.
