Alder catkins blooming

Great Lakes region, USA. April 2026.
Maybe not exactly what folks mostly associate with wildflowers, but they clearly bloom and have all the constituent parts of a flower. They're surprisingly pretty when you get up close for a look.
It's a stunning trio of catkins but i feel like sneezing just by looking at them 😅
I'm sorry. I know a few folks that have extreme allergies and they despise spring and fall. I've been blessed to never have that problem, so far.
