It could also be that that lemmy server exploit that soulism.net employs, where as as admin, you can “own” a community, and ban them in your instace, and it federates.

If there's genuinely interest I can look at cleaning it up so other people can use it - but it's really nothing fancy, and some of the time (due to how modlogs are structured in lemmy) it just doesn't work.
