Deep within the Second Sun First Born, Leonie regains awareness. They are still confined within the cylinder filled with breathable liquid, the walls glimmering with rainbow colors. They wonder if that is the walls or if it is them.
In a sudden burst a voice rings out from all directions, both from within and from without. Leonie reflexively attempts to jump, managing only to thrash around in their container.
The voice says, "Good morning. How may I be of service?"
Leonie's mind races, settling on the answer, "Let me out!"
The voice continues, "Let you out . . . that would not serve you. Let me serve you. If need be, I can demonstrate the service you best need."
Leonie calms a bit, "How are you serving me by keeping me locked up?"
The voice takes on a soothing tone. Leonie feels it to be feminine, but cannot determine for sure. The voice says, "We all serve each other, and all serve the Central Sun. You are in need of deep healing."
Leonie grows impatient, the very emotion is quashed, seemingly by power not their own. The voice speaks again, "The fear you feel leads to pain and suffering. There is no need for that here. We will serve you, and in return, you will serve us."
"The only healing I need is physical. My mind is just fine as it is thank you very much." Leonie says.
"There is no need for you to speak," says the voice, "We know what you think and what you feel before it even enters your conscious awareness. We are one with you already. We will serve you. We will heal you. You will experience the eternal love of the Central Sun."
This time it is Leonie's mind that thrashes about, but their mental thrashing is quickly suppressed. Leonie feels a calmness imposed from throughout, the energy of the light within the cylinder drains their mind and body of energy.
Leonie allows their mind to be calmed, deciding that fighting isn't worth the trouble given where they currently are. Leonie addresses the voice with a thought, "What do you want from me? What will you do with me?"
The tone of the voice changes, a happiness fills Leonie's mind and Leonie struggles to separate the voice's happiness from their own. The voice says, "We will heal you. We will undo the spells cast upon you, the ones that damaged you so much in the past."
For a brief moment Leonie feels a pang of fear but quashes it themselves, not wanting a repeat of their recent experience. Leonie meets the voice's statement with calm, "There are a set of spells I do not need you or anyone to clear. I cast them. I did it for me, to be me."
The voice gives off a hint of light disapprobation, "The spells you used cast a long shadow, thus they cannot be left within you. All traces of darkness must be removed for the light of the Central Sun to embrace your being fully."
"You would erase who I am."
"We make you whole again."
Leonie imagines putting their foot down, "My final answer is no."
The voice pauses for a moment, but then gives its first command, "You will now journey with us and the Central Sun back in time through your memories. We will show you the shadows that shall be cleansed. You will cleanse them yourself with our loving support."
The voice adds, "Worry not, you will not lose yourself. You will find yourself as you wish to be, but this time with the light of the Central Sun."
With those words Leonie's mind is cast backward in time and space, dancing with their shadows while bathed in the light of the Central Sun.
Standing in the light of the morning sun, the Witch and remaining company on Hart Island all find themselves transfixed on the immense ship floating over the city of New York. The sound of the Blue Moon taking up Tola's body off the cross it was placed on wakes everyone up to the present moment.
As the uninhabited body floats up under the glow of a tractor beam, Ailuros ushers all the rest present to move towards the beam themselves. Bishop Clement is the first to break the silence, "What are we going to do?"
Pleni is the one to answer, "We will retreat for now and reassess what we need to do to get the Private Eye and Leonie back. Our presence here in the city will go underground during the day. We cannot take on the Central Sun as we are."
"You know who that ship belongs to?" The Bishop asks.
"Of course. Everyone who's anyone knows all about the Central Sun. They are the premier military power over this material universe." Pleni answers.
Ailuros places her hand on Bishop Clement's shoulder, and with a gentle push gets him across the beam which then takes him up. One by one everyone else follows, the Witch helping Ernest, the secretary, That-Came-From-Before, Pleni, and finally Ailuros."
With everyone aboard the Blue Moon, the ship cloaks itself, disappearing from the skies above Hart Island and turns up towards Long Island Sound. Within the ship, Pleni along with Blue Moon herself deploy a magical circle which allows the ship to slip away from the Earth.
The Blue Moon evacuates the sky on Earth and in an instant occupies the perpetually pale space hanging over endless rows of shelving. The Blue Moon slips into The Library, coming to rest thousands of feet over endless stacks of books.
