yes, but in the kitchen there is a tool for slicing thats basically like the cheese grater with a container, but has a straight sharp edge. its very common enough for inexperienced people who are slicing fast using one to injure themselves in the process
it's also not used for meat, cheese, or breads....
In British English the kitchen tool (Mandoline) has the same spelling as the instrument.

They gave them an exemption because the app is primarily intended for disabled people with screen readers. That's why it looks the way it does
