What is your favorite season for camping?
What is your favorite place for camping? (Sea, mountains, riverside, lake)
Autumn is by far my favorite time to camp. Summers are ok if you have lots of trees for shade. Camping in a pine forest is amazing because a layer of pine straw adds so much cushion to the ground (but not great for the rain fly as sap drips on it).
I've never done a true winter camp, the coldest I've camped in is -5 C / 23 F and that was just the low temp overnight.
Late spring would be my second choice for camping after the ground has defrosted and it's not so muddy.
Thanks for the great insight! I actually haven't experienced that "pine straw cushion" myself yet, but now I'm very curious to try it.
It sounds much more comfortable than sleeping on a regular mat!
-5°C is still quite a challenge, so I think you're braver than you realize!
Hope your next autumn trip is amazing.
Fall camping when the leaves are changing is magic. South West Colorado and Michigan's UP during the fall are some of my favorite areas to be.
Autumn is truly magical!
The way the leaves change color is exceptional.
The Upper Peninsula in Colorado and Michigan must be breathtakingly beautiful.
I just spread out a map and was moved by some of the forest images.
I wonder if you can see the aurora borealis there?
Absolutely amazing!
And I yearn for the vibrant sight of the large deciduous trees on the Upper Peninsula.
Here in the mountains of Japan, the way the forests change color with Mount Fuji in the background during autumn is one of my favorite sights, but
Japan is mostly coniferous forests, which is a little disappointing.
Thank you for introducing me to such wonderful places.!
Mount Fuji has got to be the most photogenic mountain on the planet. I hope one day to be able to visit your country and hope one day you can visit mine.
I know there have been specific times you have been able to see the aurora borealis in norther Michigan, but I'm uncertain if it's visible often.
While the large deciduous trees are gorgeous they are very sad in the winter. A coniferous forest stays beautiful year round.
Telluride Colorado has a particularly amazing fall season due to the mix of tree types, so you get the changing autumn leaves mixed with the vibrant evergreens.
Thank you! I'm so happy to hear you say that about Mount Fuji. ありがとうございます。
I hope you'll see Mount Fuji from my forest someday. It's a breathtaking view that you'll never tire of photographing.
I also hope to one day see the magnificent American scenery you've described.
Your stories about forests are very interesting.
In fact, for the past 10 years, I've been working on "natural regeneration" here, restoring the natural cycle of my forest.
While it's true that the sight of deciduous trees dormant in winter can be a little lonely, I've come to appreciate that "stillness" as a necessary part of the cycle for the arrival of a vibrant spring.
Telluride (Colorado), with its mix of conifers and autumn leaves, is a dream location for any photographer.
I'll definitely add it to my list of places I want to visit! Seeing the aurora borealis in Michigan has also become one of my big dreams.
If a miracle happens and I ever get to meet you,
I'd love to show you some of my favorite local attractions.
Thank you, and I hope to hear more wonderful stories!
Any time its not raining, or cold enough that there's snow. generally prefer a lake or ocean nearby but one of my favorite spots we went was near the mexico border in Arizona where it was so quiet I learned I had tinnitus
That's wonderful. The silence near the Arizona border must have been exceptional. It's truly amazing how quiet nature can be, to the point where you can even hear your own voice.
I'd love to experience that feeling of being embraced by the vast natural beauty of Arizona someday.
I also enjoy being by the water, but right now, I'm captivated by the special charm of mountain tranquility.
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful memory!
That's awesome!
Here is a photo of our dog at the campground, he wasn't impressed, he's more of a couch potato

A cute and very peaceful engineer!
I also love dogs and live with one.
My husband and I are colleagues who work together at the campsite.
Nice to meet you.!
