He/she was a little bit scared.

Awesome shot! Great lighting too. I strive to produce something this good! Mind if I ask your flash settings and diffuser?

Thank you! I recently grabbed my fiance's cam (Sony Alpha 6700) and thought I could trie to shoot some macros (FW 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS). So I barely know what i'm even doing.

I think I shot this one with F/7.1 ISO-200 and the Flash set to 1/8, 105mm, if that makes sense. The Flash is a Godox TT350. And the Guage Large Size III Pro as a diffuser.

hope I'll spot some pictures from you in this community soon :)

Edit: I just saw that I already upvoted some of your shots. Well done!

Ha, no shit. I just bought that same diffuser for my 60mm macro. I'll have to try 1/8 power on my flash. I've only used TTL. I haven't used it in a bit as there's not many cool macro shots to be had here yet, but soon. The ones I've posted recently are natural light. I assume you've edited these? The colors and tone are really good. I'm still very amateur editing. Darktable is quite a lot to take in.

Ohhh really? What a coincidence. I guess it's allright. I don't even know what TTL means. I just played around with the Focal length and realized that the higher the number, the darker the picture so I ramped up the Flash. Until the flash batteries died faster than the spiders could run away from me. So yeah. I have to learn a lot :D

But no cool macro shots at your place? Can't believe that. Go out into nature, throw yourself on the ground, and the little critters will come all on their own to apply for a photoshoot with you!

The photo is unedited actually.

TTL means Through-The-Lens, basically the camera tells the flash how much power to use.

There's definitely cool stuff to be had, but soon there will be all kinds of cool bugs, fungi, plants and whatnot and I'll get out for all that. There's really not a lot of interesting stuff yet, we're still in early spring here.

I'd say you hit the exposure nicely then for not editing it. It came out looking great.

I can't see a curled up millipede without thinking about Nine Inch Nails

My first thought

Man. I got millipedes in my garden. Its legit crazy how good the soil they make is. If I leave a pot upside down for a few months, I'll come back to a layer of like, fine, quality organic material and a couple hundred millipedes. Its sad they get such a bad rap looking like centipedes.
