I'm not sure if I ever thought of RSS as a full on email newsletter replacement, but it makes sense. I like email for direct correspondence, like oh someone has reached out and wants my attention even though most of the communications come in like a constant feed of updates, a drip.

The security aspect is huge too. I like writing much of my tooling myself, but being responsible for stewarding people main emails is just too much — I can just barely start a docker container without it punching a hole through my firewall and announcing itself to the world, nevermind my keeping up to date with every single new security patch and cero date.
