My friends and I came up with several encryption methods when we were kids... 'coutse we never had much to say, but that was beside the point
What were some of your favourite encryption methods?

Ah. A fun one, but not particularly strong :)
Shifting letters
number substitution including unused numbers to really throw 'em off
Reversed words
Every other letter being ignored
When we learned BASIC we started using random ASCII symbols
We also started learning morse code for an afternoon...
