I saw a documentary about this incident called Let the Fire Burn a long time ago. Truly fucked up!
They confiscated food meant for poor children or destroyed it by soaking it with water or urinating on it; they spread lies about the breakfasts being poisoned, or the Panthers teaching hate and ‘anti-American’ rhetoric.
Pro-American rhetoric; children should suffer and starve if they don't have money.
Honestly it aligns given how English has the expression "I'm not Mother Theresa" to somehow imply that you're not a divinely virtuous person, when in reality Mother Theresa was a vile piece of trash that knowingly inflicted suffering and disease on people, because she believed that it's pious and just for poor people to suffer.
