Apple Preparing New 'Gen AI' Website Ahead of WWDC

Apple is readying the subdomain genai.apple.com, according to MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris, but it does not yet lead to a live web page. The genai.apple.com subdomain has been added to Apple's domain name servers a few weeks ahead of Apple's annual developers conference WWDC, where the company has promised to announce "AI advancements" across its software platforms.
Maybe they can announce a folding phone nobody wants and some smart glasses nobody wants to go along with the AI nobody wants.
More dumb bloat nobody asked for, and too late at that.
While true, I’m faintly hoping that their “Apple Intelligence” schtick is designed to keep them somewhat separate from the GenAI bubble and instead lean into useful models that can do productive things in a reasonable way. And positioning for WWDC means a useful API people can use to extract task intelligence and do productive analysis instead of abusing LLMs to give the illusion of productivity.
🤮
Apple Intelligence will make it easier for users to create shortcuts in the Shortcuts app, and it will power a new "Create a Pass" option in the Wallet app. Safari will be able to automatically name tab groups, and Visual Intelligence will be able to scan food nutrition labels and add information from a business card or paperwork to the Contacts app.
These all sound like minor features in existing apps. Why are we bolting it onto a big deal about AI?
Apple can’t seriously be this bad at the AI game.
