This post uses a gift link so access should be free. The new work requirements are being forced on California by the federal government. In practice, they're designed to kick the working poor off of benefits by forcing them to deal with a bunch of paperwork.
when people are starving and you take away their options they will turn to violence
Trump would love to have a reason to mass-execute poor people.
exactly. why do you think they're doing this?
It sounds like the fiscal argument is that feeding people keeps them from developing extremely costly medical issues. Also, not feeding people doesn’t get people to become employed.
If only there were some other pointless endeavor, perhaps something on the other side of the globe, we could have avoided so people didn't have to starve. But what? What could it be?
The GOVERment: With this much money "slaps daughters ass" we can hang out SO MUCH on this island!!!
Why would this be related to Trump if it's a state thing?
The money and requirement for documenting work are coming from the federal government, even though the administration of the program is done by the state.
It's also not just Trump; the new rules were written to law by the Republican Congress
I wonder if students will still qualify.
There are a bunch of ways people can qualify in theory. But the idea is to make people repeatedly jump through hoops to show that they qualify on the theory that paperwork errors and delays will kick a lot of people out of the program
Yeah, but think of how many gilded sniper nests you can add to a ballroom bunker when you cut social welfare in one of the most populas states in the US!?
