This week, VW changed an API, preventing users from accessing their data via third-party tools. Network-friendly charging is made more difficult.

Is there no way to turn off whatever enables them to remotely update your vehicle?
You could use a signal jammer or pull out the (probably digital) sim card.
However once you do this your car has no Internet and most shit won't work. Also the uploading of the data to the manufacturer servers
What functionalities require internet connection besides owners accessing online services? Like mechanical functions?
It should be illegal to even be forced to get the data from their servers.
The fucking car can be connected to you wifi and you should be able to connect to it without Internet access!
