Introduced 14 November, 1942, Gomez - named after an old family friend - has remained unchanged in the comic strips.

The original Gomez is nothing like the character portrayed by Raul Julia in the feature films.

While unchanged in the comics, there was one unpublished strip with a very different Gomez with Lurch, Granny Frump, Fester, and Morticia.
