More of these cars are entering Australia — and they've sparked a burning question

Security experts have cautioned that internet-linked vehicles pose an increasing threat to Australian consumers as their data-gathering capabilities grow.

Good luck changing anything, "security experts".

My car should not be connected to the internet. The Australian government has made some wild laws in the past that I wholeheartedly disagree with, but this seems like a reasonable enshitification concern. If they regulate and the industry resists apart from one or two companies, those companies will cash in big on market share even if they lose out on some private data.

Is Australia a smart phone free zone, or is this just another moral hue and cry by people closing the barn door after it's burned down?
