Thermaltake built a PSU that splits in two, so you never have to redo cable management again

So a modular PSU.
But instead of standardising cable connections & wiring across the industry, they made a connection plate thing.

How're they going to lock you into their ecosystem if they can't sell you useless proprietary bullshit?

Which is pretty much useless. Just go with a detachable cables one, reattaching cables should be easy enough to a new unit in case of replacement. No need to retire anything in both cases 🤷

Unless, for whatever reason, the pinout on the new unit is different from the old unit.
I almost fried my PC with that, before I paused and beeped the new and old cables out and realised they were wired differently.

Even if you buy the same model PSU, you're taking a huge risk if you don't verify that the new unit has the same pinout as the old one. Manufacturers have been known to change pinout without revising the model number of name of the PSU.

Always use the cables that came with your PSU if you don't have a multimeter to verify that old and new cables are identical.

That happens? Even with better quality PSUs? That's a really stupid. But still, the proposed solution has the same problem, doesn't it? In both cases they can stick with same pinout or not. 🤷

This is a solution to a problem no one was having.

After I stopped distro hopping, because I have tried them all, I started PSU hopping - this would save me so much time!

Neat.

It would be cheaper and simpler if they all just got together and agreed that all the pins should be 1-1 so you didn't have to worry about mixing cables..... That wouldn't make them more money though!
