They were better known as "The Three Stooges," although only Jerome ("Curly") and Moses ("Moe") were part of the act at this time. Samuel ("Shemp") had left 3yrs earlier to work on his own career. For Hollywood, they also used the stage name "Howard" in place of "Horwitz."

This second photo seems to have been processed at some point, repairing the original image and smoothing things out. Both of them did have artifacts though, so I ran each through a mild upscaler to improve photo quality.

FUN FACT: There were six (almost 7) total Stooges across their showbiz career. Mainstays Moe and Louis Feinberg ("Larry Fine"), brothers Shemp and Curly, and later, Joe Besser, then Curly-Joe DeRita. Longtime supporting-actor Emil Sitka almost became the 7th stooge in 1970, before things fell through.
